Isle of Wight Festival 2027: Tickets, Ferries and Getting Your Group There
The Isle of Wight Festival returns to Seaclose Park, Newport, from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 June 2027, its 25th edition since the festival was revived in 2002. Around 55,000 people attended in 2026. Getting there takes more planning than most festivals because every journey ends with a ferry. For friend groups, Isle of Wight Festival travel by private minibus or coach to the ferry port is the easiest way to move everyone, tents and all, to the water's edge in one go.

How to Get to the Isle of Wight Festival
Venue: Seaclose Park, Fairlee Road, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 2DN.
Step 1 – Get to the ferry port. There are three mainland departure points:
From | Ferry | To | Crossing time | Type |
| Portsmouth Harbour | Wightlink FastCat | Ryde | about 22 min | Foot passengers |
| Portsmouth (Gunwharf) | Wightlink car ferry | Fishbourne | about 45 min | Vehicles and foot |
| Southampton Town Quay | Red Funnel Red Jet | West Cowes | about 28 min | Foot passengers |
| Southampton | Red Funnel car ferry | East Cowes | about 60 min | Vehicles and foot |
| Lymington | Wightlink car ferry | Yarmouth | about 40 min | Vehicles and foot |
| Southsea | Hovertravel | Ryde | about 10 min | Foot passengers |
Crossing times from Radical Storage's festival guide; book on Wightlink and Red Funnel. Red Funnel has previously offered returns during festival periods for foot passengers.
Step 2 – Cross to the island. Foot passenger crossings are cheapest and quickest. Taking a car or minibus across costs more and peak festival sailings sell out.
Step 3 – Shuttle to Seaclose Park. Southern Vectis runs festival shuttle buses from Ryde, East Cowes, West Cowes and Yarmouth straight into the festival bus station, from about 8 am to 3 am, Thursday to Monday (Isle of Wight Festival travel). In 2024, an adult single was £9.50 and a return £16.
Why Book a Minibus or Coach to the Ferry?
- Door to dock. Your group leaves from home and is dropped right at Portsmouth Harbour or Southampton Town Quay.
- No trains with tents. Skip changes at Clapham Junction or Southampton Central with camping kit.
- Timed to your sailing. We plan arrival around your booked crossing.
- Return pickup guaranteed. On Monday, your vehicle meets you off the ferry, no matter how tired you are.
- Option to cross. For groups that want their vehicle on the island, we can quote for vehicle ferry crossings.
Vehicle Options
- Groups of 8–16: A minibus hire to the ferry port.
- Groups of 20–57: A midi or full size coach hire for clubs, colleges and big friend groups.
Isle of Wight Festival Travel Tips
- Travel Thursday morning to beat the busiest Friday sailings.
- Book ferries early. Vehicle crossings on festival days sell out first.
- Keep tickets on your phone for both the ferry and the shuttle bus.
- Plan the Monday return. Shuttles run until around midday Monday; agree your ferry and coach times in advance.

“We booked Bus Route for our group of 35 passengers travelling from London to Ipswich return trio and the experience was excellent from start to finish. On our way to the venue, the road was unexpectedly closed when we were only about 15 minutes away. Our driver remained calm, patient, and professional throughout, finding an alternative route without any stress or delay on our part. We really appreciated how composed and experienced he was in handling the situation. The coach was clean, comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which made a huge difference as we were travelling during an extremely hot day. Everyone in our group was able to relax and enjoy the journey.Overall, we had a fantastic experience on both the outbound and return trips. The service was reliable, comfortable, and well-organised. I would highly recommend Bus Route to anyone looking for coach transport for a large group. Thank you for helping make our trip so enjoyable!”
