London Marathon Double 2027: Everything Runners, Charities and Supporters Need to Know

For one year only, the TCS London Marathon becomes a two-day event. The London Marathon Double takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027, with a record 100,000 runners tackling the full 26.2 mile course from Greenwich to Westminster. That's around 40,000 more people than usual plus many more supporters on the streets. For charity teams and running clubs travelling in from across the UK, London Marathon coach hire is the simplest way to move runners, kit and cheer squads.

Key Facts About the 2027 London Marathon

	Detail
Dates	Sat 24 & Sun 25 April 2027
Runners	100,000 across two days
Course	Same course both days, Greenwich to The Mall, Westminster
Race day	Allocated by organisers; you cannot choose, and cannot run both days in person
Elite races	Elite women on one day, elite men on the other
Extra events	TCS Mini London Marathon (Fri 23 April, 20,000+ young runners), Friday Night Lights 5K, extended Running Show
Future	Returns to a single day in 2028

How Much Does it Cost to Take Part or Watch?

Watching is free. There are no spectator tickets. Pick a spot along the route and arrive early.
Ballot places. A record 1.33 million people entered the 2027 ballot. Everyone who entered was considered for both days. Successful runners pay the entry fee set by the organisers.
Charity places. Most runners without a ballot place run for a charity and commit to a fundraising target. With 100,000 places, charities have more spots than ever. Contact your chosen charity directly.
Good for Age and club places. Affiliated running clubs receive a small allocation; ask your club secretary.
Virtual option. You can run one day in person and complete TCS London Marathon MyWay virtually on the other.

Why Coach Hire Works for Marathon Weekend

Central London is a maze of road closures on marathon days, and with racing on both Saturday and Sunday, disruption covers the whole weekend. Trains into Greenwich, Blackheath and Westminster are packed from dawn. A private coach helps:

Runners arrive calm. A coach drop near the start area saves a stressful tube journey before 26.2 miles.
Kit travels with you. Bags, banners and charity merchandise stay on board.
Supporters stay together. Move a cheer squad between viewing points on routes that avoid closures.
Easy return. Tired runners get a seat home, not a crowded train.
LEZ and ULEZ compliant. BusRoute vehicles meet London emission standards, so there are no surprise daily charges.

Group Transport Options

Charity teams (16–57): A full size coach hire from your head office or region.
Running clubs (8–33): A minibus hire or midi coach, often booked for a Friday to Sunday weekend including the Running Show.
Corporate charity teams: Executive coaches with branding-friendly vehicles on request.
Hotel shuttles: Shuttle runners between hotel, start line and finish on race morning.

Marathon Weekend Planning Tips

Know your race day first. Book transport only once your runners know whether they race Saturday or Sunday.
Plan early starts. Runners need to be in start areas well before the start time; plan a very early departure.
Agree a meeting point after the finish. Phone signal drops in the crowds near The Mall.
Book early. With 100,000 runners and two race days, coaches will be in high demand this weekend.

“Booked for a hen do for 20 girls. Seamless experience! Drivers were great, very prompt and swift communication throughout. Very reasonable quote too compared with other providers. Would recommend!”
