Getting Your Group to Edinburgh Zoo
Getting a group to Edinburgh Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo sits at EH12 6TS and has welcomed visitors since 1913. For anyone organising coach hire or minibus hire to Edinburgh Zoo, the practical details matter more than the history: how the vehicle gets in, where it parks, and whether the driver is looked after.
Coach parking is free at the zoo, but it must be pre-booked ahead of arrival. This is worth sorting early, since it's the kind of detail that trips up group organisers who assume they can just turn up. Operators booked through BusRoute can factor this into the journey plan so the driver knows exactly where to go on arrival.
Group rates and school visits
Groups of 15 or more qualify for a generous discount, with admission starting from £18.40 per person. School groups are catered for specifically, and the driver travels free of charge, a small but useful saving on top of the group rate. Anyone organising numbers or asking about availability should go through groups@rzss.org.uk directly, as this is the official contact for group visits.
Booking through BusRoute
BusRoute connects schools, clubs and families with licensed operators who know the roads into Edinburgh and the drop off arrangements at the zoo. Whether it's a single minibus for a small school trip or a full coach for a larger outing, the operator handles the driving and the parking logistics while you handle the group. Confirm numbers early, especially if you're close to the 15 person threshold for the discount, and check the pre-booking requirement for parking before the day itself.
Journey times to Edinburgh Zoo
Breaks follow GB drivers hours rules, which is why longer journeys from Leeds and Liverpool require a scheduled stop and rule out a same day return.

About BusRoute
BusRoute is a UK coach and minibus booking platform. We do not own vehicles. We connect groups with licensed operators who do, which means you are matched to the operator best placed to run your journey rather than to whoever happens to own the nearest coach.
Every operator we work with holds a valid PSV operator licence and full passenger insurance. Drivers on school and youth bookings are DBS checked as standard.

“We booked Bus Route for our group of 35 passengers travelling from London to Ipswich return trio and the experience was excellent from start to finish. On our way to the venue, the road was unexpectedly closed when we were only about 15 minutes away. Our driver remained calm, patient, and professional throughout, finding an alternative route without any stress or delay on our part. We really appreciated how composed and experienced he was in handling the situation. The coach was clean, comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which made a huge difference as we were travelling during an extremely hot day. Everyone in our group was able to relax and enjoy the journey.Overall, we had a fantastic experience on both the outbound and return trips. The service was reliable, comfortable, and well-organised. I would highly recommend Bus Route to anyone looking for coach transport for a large group. Thank you for helping make our trip so enjoyable!”
