Coach and Minibus Hire for Inverness Airport
Coach hire and minibus hire for Inverness Airport
Inverness Airport has operated since 1947 and is run by Highlands and Islands Airports. For anyone organising group travel to or from the terminal, coach hire and minibus hire at Inverness Airport needs a bit of planning around where vehicles can wait and drop passengers off, since space at the front of the building is limited and controlled.
Coach parking and drop off
Coach parking is available at Inverness Airport, but it's restricted to a specific access lane at the front of the terminal building rather than open bays. This space costs £10 per coach and must be pre-booked before arrival, so operators bringing a group need to confirm the booking ahead of the pickup or drop off date rather than turning up on spec.
If a coach or minibus is just dropping off or collecting passengers rather than waiting, the Free Drop Off area in the Short Stay Car Park is the option to use. This keeps the restricted front lane clear for vehicles that need to park for longer while passengers check in or clear arrivals.
Booking through an operator
BusRoute connects customers with licensed operators who know the layout at Inverness Airport and can plan around the pre-booking requirement for coach parking. Whether it's a small minibus collecting a family group or a full coach bringing a party through arrivals, the operator handles the paperwork for the restricted lane so the driver isn't left waiting for access on the day.
Getting this right matters more at an airport than almost anywhere else on a route, because flight times don't move to suit a coach booking. An operator familiar with the £10 charge and the drop off arrangement can build that into the schedule, rather than leaving a group standing at the terminal while the driver works out where to wait.
Journey times to Inverness Airport
Break requirements follow GB drivers hours rules, and journeys from further south generally rule out a lawful same day return.
A Little Context
Inverness Airport has been operating since 1947 under Highlands and Islands Airports. Coach parking is available for groups arranging coach hire or minibus hire for Inverness Airport, though it's limited to a restricted access lane at the front of the terminal building. This costs £10 per coach and must be pre-booked ahead of the travel date. For quicker pickups or drop offs, the Free Drop Off area in the Short Stay Car Park offers a no-cost alternative. Journey times to the airport vary considerably by origin, with Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow all supporting a lawful same day return under drivers hours rules.

About BusRoute
BusRoute is a UK coach and minibus booking platform. We do not own vehicles. We connect groups with licensed operators who do, which means you are matched to the operator best placed to run your journey rather than to whoever happens to own the nearest coach.
Every operator we work with holds a valid PSV operator licence and full passenger insurance. Drivers on school and youth bookings are DBS checked as standard.

“We booked Bus Route for our group of 35 passengers travelling from London to Ipswich return trio and the experience was excellent from start to finish. On our way to the venue, the road was unexpectedly closed when we were only about 15 minutes away. Our driver remained calm, patient, and professional throughout, finding an alternative route without any stress or delay on our part. We really appreciated how composed and experienced he was in handling the situation. The coach was clean, comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which made a huge difference as we were travelling during an extremely hot day. Everyone in our group was able to relax and enjoy the journey.Overall, we had a fantastic experience on both the outbound and return trips. The service was reliable, comfortable, and well-organised. I would highly recommend Bus Route to anyone looking for coach transport for a large group. Thank you for helping make our trip so enjoyable!”
