Coach and Minibus Hire for Torquay
Coach hire and minibus hire in Torquay
Torquay is home to around 48,563 people and forms part of the wider Torbay area on the south Devon coast. Whether you're organising transport for a school group, a wedding party, a corporate event or a seaside outing, coach hire and minibus hire in Torquay connects you with licensed operators who know the local roads and pickup points across the area.
How BusRoute works
BusRoute is a broker, not an operator. We don't own vehicles, run drivers or set timetables ourselves. Instead, we connect you with licensed operators who provide the coach or minibus, the driver and the local knowledge needed to get your group where it needs to go. This means you get access to a wider pool of vehicles and availability than any single operator could offer, and pricing that reflects genuine local competition rather than a single company's rate card.
Getting to and from Torquay
Torquay sits within easy reach of several major cities, which makes it a practical destination for day trips as well as longer stays. Exeter is the closest major origin at just 23 miles away, with a coach journey of around 40 minutes and no legally required breaks either way, making a same day return straightforward. Plymouth follows at 32 miles and just over an hour's drive. Further afield, groups travelling from Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton or Birmingham can still complete a same day return, though journey times stretch from just over two hours to just under four hours each way.
Why journey planning matters
Drivers' hours rules under GB regulations mean that longer journeys may require scheduled breaks, and organisers need to factor this into timing for events, performances or return travel. None of the six main origins covered here require a break on the way to Torquay, which keeps logistics simple even for parties travelling from Birmingham or Cardiff. This is exactly the kind of detail that matters when you're booking transport for a school trip, a stag or hen weekend, or a group heading down for a day on the seafront.
Local pickup and access
Because Torquay falls within the Torbay administrative area, operators are familiar with pickup points across the wider bay, including nearby Paignton and Brixham, as well as access routes into the town centre and seafront locations. Whether you need a full-size coach for a large group or a minibus for a smaller party, connecting with a local operator through BusRoute means the vehicle and route are matched to your specific journey and group size.
Journey times to Torquay
Breaks required follow GB drivers' hours rules, which apply regardless of the origin or group size.

About BusRoute
BusRoute is a UK coach and minibus booking platform. We do not own vehicles. We connect groups with licensed operators who do, which means you are matched to the operator best placed to run your journey rather than to whoever happens to own the nearest coach.
Every operator we work with holds a valid PSV operator licence and full passenger insurance. Drivers on school and youth bookings are DBS checked as standard.

“We booked Bus Route for our group of 35 passengers travelling from London to Ipswich return trio and the experience was excellent from start to finish. On our way to the venue, the road was unexpectedly closed when we were only about 15 minutes away. Our driver remained calm, patient, and professional throughout, finding an alternative route without any stress or delay on our part. We really appreciated how composed and experienced he was in handling the situation. The coach was clean, comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, which made a huge difference as we were travelling during an extremely hot day. Everyone in our group was able to relax and enjoy the journey.Overall, we had a fantastic experience on both the outbound and return trips. The service was reliable, comfortable, and well-organised. I would highly recommend Bus Route to anyone looking for coach transport for a large group. Thank you for helping make our trip so enjoyable!”
